Gift Acceptance Policy

REACH — Real Educational Answers for Community Hope welcomes financial, in-kind, and service gifts that support our mission through The REACH Academy and Resource Center in Kingston, Pennsylvania. This policy guides how contributions are reviewed, recorded, and acknowledged.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure gifts are accepted in alignment with REACH’s mission, values, and legal obligations while maintaining donor intent and organizational integrity.

Acceptable Gift Types

  • Cash contributions by check, electronic transfer, or secure online payment
  • In-kind donations such as supplies, equipment, or professional services
  • Grants from foundations or institutions
  • Event sponsorships and community fundraising proceeds
  • Bequests or planned gifts (subject to board review)

Gift Review and Approval

  • All gifts must comply with applicable laws and nonprofit standards.
  • Non-cash gifts of significant value or with restrictions require board or finance committee approval.
  • REACH may decline any gift that conflicts with our mission, ethics, or capacity to manage it responsibly.

Acknowledgment and Receipts

Donors receive written acknowledgment within 30 days of receipt. All monetary gifts are recorded according to nonprofit accounting standards. In-kind donations are listed with donor-provided fair-market estimates when available.

Restricted and Designated Gifts

Donors may designate gifts for specific programs or purposes that align with REACH’s mission. When circumstances change or a project concludes, REACH may reallocate funds to similar initiatives after board review and, when possible, donor notification.

Investment and Stewardship

All funds are managed with fiscal responsibility and transparency. Annual reports summarizing donations and expenditures are available through the Transparency Library.
